Vidalia M. Butler-Poku, M.D.

Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology

I’ve had the pleasure of serving in the field of obstetrics and gynecology  for more than 17 years. It has been a joy caring for women in every phase of life, from conception to menopause. I feel very fortunate in knowing what I was born to do, take care of women and their health needs.

I’m the proud mom of two school-aged children, Phinehas and Hadassah, and I'm blessed to walk through life with my husband, Yaw.

I graduated from Ross University School of Medicine in 1993 and completed my residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Cook County Hospital, Chicago Ill, in 1998, serving as Chief Resident in my final year. I worked as an attending physician for six years at Corry Memorial Hospital in Corry, Pennsylvania, before moving to Arizona in 2005 where I have been an attending physician in the East and West Valley.

In August of 2010, I opened Women of Excellence Healthcare in San Tan Valley, Arizona. This has given me the opportunity to care for women of all ages not only in San Tan Valley, but the Florence, Coolidge, and Casa Grande area.

Dr. Butler-Poku will admit to both Banner Ironwood Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.

Janine Hammond, Midwife, DNP

Board Certified Nurse Midwife

I became a nurse after the birth of my first 3 children. I was always drawn to OB, and in particular childbirth. I attended my first homebirth when I was just 8 years old. After 15 years as a labor and delivery nurse, I decided to return to school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife.

I am so truly blessed to join the practice here at My OBgyne, and am excited to serve the women in my community in their healthcare and childbearing needs. In my free time, I enjoy serving our community church with my husband of 29 years, Jon. Additionally, life at home is very busy with our six children, 2 dogs and 3 cats.

Debra Bro, CNM

My first career choice was veterinary medicine, but circumstances intervened and led me to nursing. My first job was in the OB unit at a small local hospital, and I found my niche. I loved it so much, helping women and families in one of the most special times of their lives, I stayed in OB for 30 years. I never thought I would be so blessed to also become a midwife. But here I am following a path blazed by a very special midwife, Janine, and I couldn’t be more excited to serve the women and families of this community!

Outside work, I enjoy hiking, trail running, and anything active. I have a husband, 2 lab dogs, 4 grown children and 11 grandchildren, the last of which I was blessed to count as my first CNM delivery! MyOBGyne is truly a special place and I’m so happy to be here.
